Kaitlyn Becker

Kaitlyn  is a PhD candidate at Harvard University in Mechanical Engineering, exploring the design and fabrication of soft robots for deep sea exploration. Her molded robots have been used on remotely piloted submarines to gently pick up sea creatures up to 6,000 ft under water. She has experience in precision molding for features smaller than the width of a human hair, as well as objects up to a foot in scale using a variety of materials and fabrication techniques. Some of her mold fabrication includes machining of metal and plastic molds, laser cutting and 3D printing plastics, molding fiber embedded silicones, and repurposing found materials.
