Spring 2020 PreVu & PreVu 2
Open to : Ages 5-10
PreVu is a studio-based experience to unleash young kids’ creativity and imagination.
NuVu is a place where young students grow their spirit of innovation. Immersed in our design process, students use their curiosity and creativity to explore new ideas and make their concepts come to life. Our model is based on the architecture studio model. For each program, we use imaginative themes to frame activities in which students dive into hands-on design, engineering, science, technology, art and more!
This Spring, we are beginning the eleventh season of PreVu, our kids program for young innovators. We'll have both our PreVu (ages 5-7) and PreVu 2 (ages 8-10) programs taking place side-by-side on Saturdays from 1pm to 3pm starting on Saturday, February 29, 2020 and continue until Saturday, May 2, 2020.
In each of the Saturday Sessions of PreVu and PreVu 2, kids will be introduced to a real-world problem and use their creative problem solving, critical thinking and innovation skills to make and build solutions. During the Session, our young innovators will learn about the design process, new technologies and various analog and digital tools (such as 3D printing and laser cutting) to create amazing work.
Theme & Topics
This Spring our theme is "Inside-Out Architecture." This season, we’ll turn our world inside-out by starting with designing an object based around human needs and then working our way out - creating a story, building a space, designing a landscape, creating a community, and even imagining that object in outer space! We’ll think of ways to integrate our designs with the natural environment, and explore how basic shapes and patterns can adapt to work with different scales of design.
Kids will explore this theme through a number of topics each week. From designing products for users to stop-motion walk throughs to 3D models of landscapes, kids will be making and designing each week! In each Session, NuVu Coaches will frame the challenge within a larger topic and encourage kids to develop their ideas through an iterative process over the course of the activity. Throughout the program, kids will enhance their problem solving, collaboration and making skills, and with persistence, they will learn to think big and deeply about the world and people around them.
Spring 2020 PreVu and PreVu 2 begin on Saturday, February 29, 2020 and continue until Saturday, May 2, 2020. PreVu and PreVu 2 each include 10 Sessions. Each Session takes place on Saturdays from 1pm to 3pm. PreVu is open to kids ages 5-7, and PreVu 2 is open to kids ages 8-10. This is a drop-off program. Parents are required to remain off-site for the duration of the two hours.
