Spring 2019 PreVu & PreVu 2
Open to : Ages 5-10

PreVu is a studio-based experience to unleash young kids’ creativity and imagination.

NuVu is a place where young students grow their spirit of innovation. Immersed in our design process, students use their curiosity and creativity to explore new ideas and make their concepts come to life. Our model is based on the architecture studio model. For each program, we use imaginative themes to frame activities in which students dive into hands-on design, engineering, science, technology, art and more!

This Spring, we are beginning the eighth season of PreVu, our kids program for young innovators. This season, we're doing something new. We're launching PreVu 2, a studio-based program for ages 8-10! This new program will take place alongside our regular PreVu program for ages 5-7. We're excited to offer this new program and hope to continue to build new experiences for our students.

In each of the Sunday Sessions of PreVu (ages 5-7) and PreVu 2 (ages 8-10), kids will be introduced to a real-world problem and use their creative problem solving, critical thinking and innovation skills to make and build solutions. During the Session, our young innovators will learn about the design process, new technologies and various analog and digital tools (such as 3D printing and laser cutting) to create amazing work.

**UPDATE (1/10/19): Our PreVu 2 (ages 8-10) program is FULL. If you are interested in being placed on the wait list for PreVu 2, please email us at kids@nuvustudio.org. PreVu (ages 5-7) is still open for registration.**

Theme & Topics

To celebrate our first season of PreVu + PreVu 2 for older kids, we're exploring everything Big and Little. We'll explore how some things that we use everyday have gotten smaller (phones, computers, etc.) while other everyday things have gotten bigger (houses, cars, etc.). We'll explore ideas of scale, basic shapes and structures that allow us to construct big and small things, micro and macro robotics, how to design expandable structures, and life-sized games.

This Spring, our PreVu theme is "Big and Little"! Kids will explore this theme through a number of topics each week. From mapping unexplored places to creating life-sized machines to coding their way to a secret treasure, kids will be making and designing each week! In each Session, NuVu Coaches will frame the challenge within a larger topic and encourage kids to develop their ideas through an iterative process over the course of the activity. Throughout the program, kids will enhance their problem solving, collaboration and making skills, and with persistence, they will learn to think big and deeply about the world and people around them.
